    Core Bit Design
    We are proud to provide the most technically advanced coring bit designs to handle any application. By incorporating the latest ReedHycalog bit designs and technology, we have developed core bits that enhance performance, core quality, and cost efficiency to put us at the forefront of cutter and bit technology. We use a continual process of bit development to build on these improvements, tailoring our designs to meet the specific needs of our customers and their operations.

    This extensive product range allows the selection of a core bit ideally suited to any given application. These bits improve the efficiency of the coring process for their target objective, cutting the core at an optimum penetration rate while minimizing invasion and maximizing efficiency. Available in steel body and matrix designs, these bits feature PDC, TSP, natural diamond, and impregnated cutting structures as needed, and in two-piece designs for wireline coring and drilling applications. Low-invasion core bit features are available on a wide range of our core bit products. This is a key requirement when matched with suitable mud specification, operating parameters, core packaging, and handling procedures to obtain high-quality core samples with minimal invasion.

    Bit Technology
    We apply the same attention to detail and rigorous standards to creating our FastCore core bits that we do to all ReedHycalog bits. Proven successful features and technology are incorporated from comparable drill bit designs, improving bit life and penetration rates. In addition, these technologies improve core quality by increasing ROP, minimizing mud invasion and creating a smooth in-gauge core.

    We utilize a well-balanced and stable cutting structure to provide a durable, high-performance product. Our PDC designs feature our industry-leading cutters to maximize performance, and all models are available with secondary stability features upon request. Computer analyses allow us to position nozzles with pinpoint accuracy, providing optimal hydraulics to the core bit, and improved junk slot areas and open face volume are standard enhancements.

    Manufacturing
    Our core bit manufacturing can take place at any one of a number of facilities, chosen based upon the technical requirements and the manufacturing schedule. All facilities are NOV owned and operated, ensuring full quality control, and are ISO 9001 certified. In addition to the standard quality procedures observed in every facility, we conduct additional checks at each location to secure every piece of equipment supplied to the client’s most exacting specifications.
