• Rack and Pinion Skidding Systems

Rack and Pinion Skidding Systems are used for moving the cantilever and the drill floor of a jack-up rig in order to locate the well center at correct position.
    Description

Rack and Pinion Skidding Systems are used for moving the cantilever and the drill floor of a jack-up rig in order to locate the well center at correct position. National Oilwell Varco's line of BLM™ Skidding Units are installed above the main deck. These rack-and-pinion designs are based on the same proven technology used in our jack-up elevating systems.

    Features/Benefits

  • National Oilwell Varco's line of BLM™ skidding units can be vertically or horizontally mounted. This advantage, along with the reduced size of the skidding unit, makes it possible to install the unit where space is limited.
  • Enclosed gear cases and splash lubrication ensure proper lubrication of gearing and minimize operational maintenance.
  • Modular skidding unit design allows each unit to be removed from its support as a single assembly with motor and pinion.
  • Remote Control keeps the operators out of dangerous conditions while an available portable control station allows for greater visibility and local control when required
  • All skidding units are driven by National Oilwell's line of BLM™ marine type watertight motors (IP56), incorporating a fail-safe brake.
  • Our skidding units have been installed on jack up rigs to move cantilevers, drill floors, raw-water towers, and other applications.
