    Description

Hydraulic cylinder actuated skidding systems are used in many offshore applications as an efficient means to move either the cantilever or drill floor to new well locations. One of the simplest and most cost effective systems is the Claw Skidding System. The Claw system requires the capping beams to be slotted at a given spacing. The Claw units have a simple shear bar that fits into the slot on the capping beam and a hydraulic cylinder that attaches to the rig. When the cylinder is actuated the shear bar and frame resist movement so the force overcomes the normal friction between the capping beams and the structure moving the rig along the beams. The Claw Skidding System can be fit in small locations and produces tremendous force making it an easy-to-use and effective way to skid a rig.
