• Links

Links are commonly used to hang elevators from top drive systems, hooks, beckets and link adapters. They are available in a wide variety of sizes and capacities to fit the needs of any drilling operation. National Oilwell Varco's Perfection and Weldless links are the industry standard, offering a perfect fit, form and function for all NOV equipment.

NOV's history with links goes back to the late 1920's, when rapidly increasing drilling operations demanded innovative methods of suspending heavy equipment. The advent of rotary drilling systems further highlighted this need, as the cable drilling systems of the past became obsolete. BJ Tools developed the first links in the late 1920's with Varco following suit. Varco and BJ merged in 1989, followed by the merger with National Oilwell in 2005. Today, National Oilwell Varco stands as the industry leader in the design, manufacture and supply of all varieties of handling tools.

Weldless Links are forged from a single billet of high strength alloy steal and heat treated to provide maximum strength and toughness. An additional section of material is added in critical wear areas for extended life. NOV Weldless Links are available in 250, 350, 500, 750, 1000 and 1250 ton ratings.

Perfection Links are designed for light loads. They are made by forging, bending and electric welding of high quality steel bar stock, which is then heat-treated and magnafluxed. For loads which exceed capacity ratings of Perfection Links, Weldless links are recommended.

NOV's links are specially designed for use with all NOV elevators, top drive systems and handling tools. This makes them the preferred choice to round out your equipment package. Links are manufactured at NOV facilities in the Netherlands and Mexicali to the latest specifications and quality guidelines. Additionally, all National Oilwell Varco equipment is supported by the company's global array of service centers and field support. All links can be serviced to a high standard according to the latest API and CE specifications at any authorized service center worldwide.
