    NOV’s Mud Mixer/Hopper is scientifically designed to be the optimal solution for mixing of both mud bulk material and mud additive chemicals into the drilling fluid. The unit has an optional plenum chamber to collect material flow from different sources, such as the surge tank, sack slitting machine and manual sack slitting table.

    Operating Benefits:
    NOV’s Mud Mixer/Hopper is a venturi-type jet mixer
    Speed of the liquid flow is increased radically through the mixing chamber by a jet nozzle, which creates a significant “underpressure” at the solids inlet opening; “underpressure” sucks the solids into the passing fluid and prevents exposure of dust to the environment
    Two different mixing characteristics are available to fit both existing rigs and “new builds”
    Optional plenum chambers (with or without manual sack table) collects the different chemicals and bulk materials and ensures proper feeding into the mixer; plenum chamber can be equipped with a remote-operated shut-off valve on the mud mixer inlet
    Optional pressure sensors monitor the working conditions for the mixer and automatically close the mixer inlet if there is any risk of “backflow” through the mixer
    Optional level sensor in the plenum chamber monitors the material flow into the mixer and will automatically stop feeding when a material build up is detected
