• Caustic Mixer

NOV’s Caustic Mixer is designed to provide a safe and efficient means of preparing caustic fluid and injecting it into the mud stream.
    Description

NOV’s Caustic Mixer is designed to provide a safe and efficient means of preparing caustic fluid and injecting it into the mud stream. Caustic powder, in sacks or plastic buckets, is taken into the handling enclosure for emptying. The powder falls into the water in the tank below, and the remaining wrapping is disposed of in a plastic waste bag. Therefore, physical contact with the caustic material is prevented.

    Features/Benefits

    Main Features:
Manual opening of bags or buckets in a safety enclosure, preventing physical contact with materials; enclosure can be connected to an air extract line for dust and fume control
Unit is portable and prepared for moving by fork lift
Discharge is controlled by the air-powered mix pump, preventing unintended emptying of caustic fluid
Pumped discharge through check valves blocks back flow from the mud line
Empty wrapping is collected in a waste bag
Meets all relevant offshore requirements regarding health, safety and environment
Built with materials and surface protections to withstand rough offshore environments
Certified for operation in hazardous areas

    Operating Features and Benefits:
Water is filled via a direct-connected water hose
A level glass is provided on the tank
The tank is furnished with an overflow line which deposits excess liquids into the drain
Can deliver mixed caustic against elevation or mud line back pressure
Simple pump control by needle valve on pump airline; and a 3-way valve to select either mix, pump or discharge
Operator is isolated from the hazardous chemicals, as bags or buckets are opened inside the ventilated mixing enclosure
