    NOV’s Big Bag Unit with dust filter is specifically designed for emptying various types of big bags of mud-additive chemicals into the drilling fluid. The simplicity of the unit has been proven to give problem-free operation for those materials handled in Big Bags, whether emptying the bag or feeding the content at the desired rate into the drilling fluid.

    Normal Operations
    The entire operation is controlled from a local control panel or optionally from a central control room.
    1. Big Bags are lifted onto the unit by a forklift truck or overhead crane
    2. As the bag is lowered down onto the slitting hopper, the slitting of the bag is executed by an integrated knife system in the slitting hopper bottom.
    3. The knife cuts the bag to a special pattern to secure problem-free, complete, emptying of the bag.
    4. The double flexible membrane at the top of the slitting hopper creates a seal as the bag is lowered down onto the hopper.
    5. Filter suction, connected between the double membranes extracts any dust escaping from the hopper beneath.
    6. The slitting hopper is supported on rubber mount assemblies. A vibrator shakes only the hopper to assist in the emptying into the metering screw conveyor.
