    National Oilwell Varco’s Surge Tank Unit™ is the optimal solution for receiving mud bulk materials from storage tanks and feeing it into the mixing system.

     

    The integrated Surge Tank Feeder and electronic load cells ensure controlled and accurate feeding.

     

    Both the refilling and the control of feed rate and batch size can be fully automated. Feed rate and batch size can be performed according to preset values selected by the operator, or automatically according to the desired drilling fluid density.

     National Oilwell’s Surge Tank Unit™ is suspended on 3 electronic load cells, for level monitoring and control of feedrate from the tank.

     National Oilwell's Surge Tank Feeder™ performs feeding from the surge tank. The feeder secures even material flow and complete emptying of tank.

     The electronic load cells make it feasible to utilize the unique Procon™ Loss of Weight technique to control feedrate and batch size with exceptional accuracy.

     The conical part of the tank is optionally equipped with outlet flange and fluidization pads, for aerating matter when blowing materials back from surge tank to bulk storage tank.

     Standard instrumentation include a pressure gauge and pressure transmitter on tank, as well as a flange for manual sounding.

     Standard connections are made for bulk material outlet, bulk material inlet, transport air outlet and aeration air inlet.


     The tank is available in two standard sizes for meeting different demands or capacities. Special sizes are available upon request.
