    • Innovation:  NOV’s Dual Speed Gear Driven (DSGD) 375 Drawworks is setting new standards in the drilling industry.  The DSGD 375 Drawworks features a two-speed helical gearbox mounted directly on the drum shaft which is ideal for any application where size and weight are critical factors. The two-speed functionality provides both extremely fast hoisting speeds and heavy hook load hoisting capabilities.
    • Superior Design:  The superior design of the DSGD 375 Drawworks allows for easy operation and maintenance. Both transverse and longitudinal skid configurations are available to fit any substructure design.
    • Dynamic Braking:  Primary/dynamic braking is performed by AC motors.  Power generated by the braking process is dissipated into braking resistors.  The motor and variable frequency drive are capable of holding full load at zero speed indefinitely.

    AC Drawworks

    • Enables the use of a single joystick for drawworks control and a superior auto-drilling function that improves drilling and tripping performance.
    • Enhanced torque/speed curve delivers continuous horsepower over a significantly greater speed/weight range.
    • AC motors are brushless, providing a more rugged and dirt resistant design.  They require less maintenance, are suitable for use in hazardous areas, and can hold full torque at zero speed.
    • AC motors eliminate the need for separate eddy current and auxiliary brakes.  Dynamic braking is accomplished through the AC motors by generating power into a braking resistor.
    • Variable Frequency Drives experience lower total harmonic distortion and a higher power factor, which means they are more efficient and use approximately half the generator power of a comparable SCR.
