• Mission Self Aligning Piston Rod

A unique solution for increased piston and liner performance designed especially for single acting pumps.
    Description

National Oilwell Varco's Mission Self-Aligning Piston Rod Assembly resolves misalignment issues between the cross-head and fluid end of the mud pump. Major components are manufactured from corrosion resistant 17-4 stainless steel while the piston rod is manufactured from alloy steel for increased strength.  A unique polyurethane flex joint design allows for up to 0.090" side load displacement.

Dual cooling tubes deliver liner coolant behind the piston to carry away heat, extending piston life. Centering of the piston reduces compound extrusion which also results in extended piston life. The piston rod can be manually rotated without requiring any clamp removal.

NOV Mission's self-aligning piston rod system can be ordered as an option for new mud pumps. Existing pumps can be easily retrofitted with self-aligning rods without modification or special tools.

    Features/Benefits

    • Unique polyurethane flex joint design allows for up to 0.090" side load displacement
    • Reduced piston side loading results in increased piston run times
    • Increases liner life on ceramic as well as chrome liners
    • Reduced down time due to less frequent piston and liner replacement
