STL Ships
The vessels used with the STL system have to be equipped and modified for this purpose. Standard tankers can be converted for STL service. This conversion process is of moderate scope and can be performed by any ship repair yard with sufficient docking capacity. The modification is related to a small section in the bow area of the ship and involves the use of approximately 150 to 300 tons of steel.
